Weekend Phoenix Freeway Travel Advisory (June 26–29, 2026): Plan Ahead Before You Hit the Road
Summer weekends are a great time to explore the Valley, visit family and friends, attend community events, or even shop for a new home. If you’re planning to travel anywhere in the Phoenix metropolitan area this weekend, you’ll want to plan ahead.
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), several major freeway improvement projects will require closures and lane restrictions between Friday evening, June 26, and Monday morning, June 29.
Some of the impacted highways include:
- SR 51
- Loop 101 (Price and Pima Freeways)
- Loop 202 (Santan Freeway)
- US 60
- Loop 303
These projects are part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic flow and roadway safety throughout the Valley. While the long-term benefits are significant, motorists should expect delays, detours, and increased congestion near construction areas.
Travel Tips
- Review the freeway restrictions before leaving.
- Build extra time into your schedule.
- Use GPS navigation for real-time traffic updates.
- Drive carefully through work zones and follow posted speed limits.
- Watch for construction workers and changing traffic patterns.
As someone who spends a great deal of time traveling throughout the Valley helping buyers and sellers, I know how valuable it is to stay informed about road conditions. I hope this information helps make your weekend travels a little smoother.
Wishing you safe travels and an enjoyable weekend!
